ABOUT

A world of distributed energy

We provide future of energy

TECNOCE was founded in 2004, with the aim of investigating how distributed energy could be a solution to the centralized alternating energy invented by Nikola Tesla.

Since then, distributed energy has been introduced to an increasing number of applications and we are just beginning in this technological discipline. This section of our website is created to interact with our clients in applications and results obtained from our research projects.

OUR PROJECTS

Active Projects

Since 2003, the corporate purpose of TECNOCE includes industrial research projects oriented to processes. Since then, we have worked exclusively to develop viable solutions in which distributed and renewable energy was always our main reference. More than 1,000 projects implemented for some 350 clients qualify us to be able to demonstrate capabilities in solving virtually any energy-related problem. Our experience is extensive in this field, and we have implemented solutions on the ground in Europe, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Our experience tells us that implementing an energy installation is very easy, but it is not easy for the installation to work with good performance and not problems during its useful life. We describe below some of the most current projects and applications:

Dehydrator

The application of dehydration prototyping is intended to evaluate which is the optimal way to dehydrate vegetables at the lowest possible cost. To do this, we work with hybrid systems that integrate passive solar energy with solar thermal energy.

Fermenter prototypin

This prototyping has been developed to implement intelligent fermentation process. The general objective of this project is to find the optimal variables of fermentation processing in a bioreactor giving relevance to three crosscutting approaches: a) impact on climate change and b) artificial intelligence.

Biogas prototyping

One of TECNOCE's lines of research is how we can incorporate biogas production applications in agrotechnological value chains located in remote locations. The prototype built following specifications of the University of Extremadura, aims to be integrated into agrotechnological processes to produce and transform food.

Thermal applications

TECNOCE develops hybrid thermal applications for residential, commercial, industrial and agro-industrial use. These applications integrate different production and control options of thermal energy to find efficient systems, optimized by techniques such as adaptive control and sensorization. We act both in new installations and in reconditioning of existing systems for customers with high consumption.

Movement monitoring and control

TECNOCE has developed its own platform in LINUX with which we obtain sensor data in real time. The ability to act on programming software allows us to integrate the solution into existing processes and especially work in collaboration with research centers.

Hydronic circuits

Another area of expertise is the design, assembling, automation and optimization of hydronic circuits, that is, closed hot or cold-water systems. The optimization of this type of systems is one of our main areas of expertise and with this we achieve significant savings in energy consumption.

Production of plant genotypes

TECNOCE develops applications in controlled atmosphere chambers capable of managing psychrometry and thermodynamic properties using exclusively renewable energies.

Solar irrigation of vinyard

Another of our areas of expertise is the implementation of solar irrigation projects. TECNOCE was a pioneer in the development of this application, and we have experience in hundreds of projects.

Technical cooperation networks

Thanks to an experience in developing countries that began in 1995, TECNOCE launched in 2,019 a new approach aimed at creating collaborative multi-agent projects capable of implementing larger projects in remote rural regions. We have called this approach cooperation networks and it is exclusively focused on creating productive activities integrating the three concepts on which we work:

Distributed value chain

The project consists of the implementation of a new viable value chain in remote locations with commercialization at the scale of the social economy and access to distant markets. It integrates smart technologies and works exclusively with renewable energies: Hybrid biogas, solar thermal and photovoltaic technology. This value chain is based on three research projects promoted by TECNOCE as of 2012, and subsequently actions that complement it have been incorporated. The incorporation of new partners to the project led to the creation of collaborative projects. Energy and processes are managed intelligently to make six applications with high value products viable. It is focused on Spain but also on regions of Central Africa, the Middle East and MENA. The value chain comprises the entire production and transformation cycle of the product, is energetically autonomous and can be implemented anywhere, no matter how isolated it may be. It has a great interest in the use of high value products and restricted distribution.

Off-grid energy

Towards a hybrid and distributed energy

TECNOCE researches, develops and implements with its own means, distributed energy applications since 2,003, and its main commercial activity is focused on such solutions. In recent years, the spectrum of solutions has been expanded through partnerships with companies and research centers experts in:

Biogas Thermal

Food biochemistry

Post-harvest techniques

Crop optimization

For years we have understood that, so that autonomous distributed energy could go beyond small home-use solutions, it was necessary to link the generation with the application, and above all work on hybridization of technologies.

Off-grid energy is about spending what you produce yourself, and hybrid systems use different energy sources for an application. Hybridization of power generation technologies is necessary because the cost of energy varies greatly throughout the day and the availability of renewable energy is a resource that must adapt as much as possible to the expected consumption. In this way the investment will be viable.

TECNOCE works by hybridizing different energy sources to obtain thermal and electrical energy, using the optimal solution at all times.

The simplest case is photovoltaic self-consumption facilities, which use photovoltaic energy when available and electricity from the grid when the sun does not produce enough energy. This has allowed us to generate much more solid applications ready for implementation in territories where conventional energies do not exist.

Process control

Goal

TECNOCE designs and builds pilot plants and prototypes that take research to a pre-industrial stage, so that we achieve operational and fully functional applications. In addition, we will be able to know with data the technical and economic feasibility of the application before its release to the market.

Background

In 2,003, TECNOCE began developing a first pilot plant to investigate what at the time were emerging applications of off-grid photovoltaic energy. The initial approach was to know the extent to which photovoltaic energy could have applications for rural activities in the most isolated areas of our region, Extremadura. The use of distributed energy was extremely basic in those years, but over time those ideas have become the main axis that inspires all our activities. Over the years, research disciplines were expanding, always having as its central axis the use of energy and how to launch viable products. Many prototypes and applications were built.

Methodology for the design and construction of pilot plants

The methodology created by TECNOCE in 2,012 is based on categorizing and recording for each action, or component, up to  eight different levels (Level). In this way, interrelated databases were created with common fields that currently have about 3,000 records with the details of the process. The interaction between these records allows us to generate functional applications, which are those of the Level 7, and they’re the ones that really interest the end user.
The Level 2, which we show in the figure, is that of the main processes integrated into the pilot plant, all of them oriented to the optimization of energy hybridization that allows to optimize the development of a viable functional application.
